With the Packers recently trading Davante Adams' in a blockbuster deal to the Raiders, the NFL was left in shock. On the other hand Aaron Rodgers wasn't.

With the star wide receiver's trade to the Las Vegas Raiders, the Packers brought to an end perhaps one of the most sensational quarterback/receiver partnerships in the history of the NFL. It now seems, however, like it wasn't a surprise to everyone.

The Packers' trading of Davante Adames was a shock

In a week that has seen some big moves between teams, The Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders combined to complete what can only be considered the biggest of the NFL offseason so far. It has now been reported several times over that the Packers star wide receiver Davante Adams will be traded to the Raiders in exchange for Las Vegas' first and second round picks. While there is surely a lot of head scratching going on as the NFL comes to terms with the blockbuster deal, there are many who will find it hard to comprehend when considering the fact that Packers star QB Aaron Rodgers just recently put pen to paper on a new deal with Green Bay. Indeed, the pair have been terrorizing defenses since 2014, but that now seems set to be nothing more than a memory.

Did Aaron Rodgers know the Packers would trade Adams?

According to new reports, it is understood that While Rodgers was negotiating his multi-year extension, he was well aware that Adams would never play for the Packers again. Reportedly, Adams told the Packers that he was not be returning to the franchise for 2022 as he felt the relationship was far past it's shelf life. That Adams chose the Raiders should in reality come as no shock having previously played alongside quarterback Derek Carr in college at Fresno State.

Davante Adams' contract and Aaron Rodgers loss

As per reports it's understood that Adams is set to sign a contract for a five year stint that is worth $141.25 million. Interestingly it is also understood that the Packers were prepared to match the Raiders' offer, however, Adams opted out. In case you were wondering, had Adams stayed on the Packers roster for 2022, he would have eared himself $20.145 million. Not bad for a season.

None the less if there is one thing that is now certain, it's that Aaron Rodgers will no longer be able to target his No.1 asset. On the other hand, perhaps that in itself is an indication of just where Rodgers' head was at. With no shortage of offers and the obvious possibility of a spot with the Broncos - his former OC Nathaniel Hackett recently joined Denver - Rodgers could have had his pick, yet he chose to stay. As they say, home is where the heart is.
