Nomadland was the chief winner at the 93rd Academy Awards in April 2021, claiming three Oscars, including Best Picture.

McDormand, Zhao win individual Oscars for Nomadland

The film, which stars Frances McDormand as a widow who travels around the US as a modern-day nomad, earned McDormand the statuette for Best Actress, and saw Chloé Zhao scoop Best Director.

This was McDormand’s third Best Actress win at the Oscars. The 64-year-old was previously honoured by the Academy for her roles in Fargo in 1997 and Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri in 2018.
