From Tom Holland to Chris Evans: The big absentees in the cast of “Avengers: Doomsday” | Why won’t they be in the movie?
The upcoming Marvel film has a sensational cast, but there are a few names missing that fans wanted to see.
On March 26, Marvel broadcast a long live stream video that featured set chairs with the names of the cast of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film on the back.
Fans got to see the return of Chris Hemsworth, Sebastian Stan, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, and Robert Downey Jr., as well as the introduction of famous faces from elsewhere such as Channing Tatum and Pedro Pascal.
However, it was not all smiles from the fans, as both Tom Holland and Chris Evans were absent from the lineup.
Why are Tom Holland and Chris Evans not in Avengers: Doomsday?
Fans rushed to speculate why Peter Parker was not part of the plan, and according to a report from The Insneider, his absence is due to “the character’s schedule.”
Spider-Man 4 will be released on July 31, 2026, just two months after the release of Doomsday. As such, the film is set at the same time as Doomsday, meaning your friendly neighbourhood Spiderman will be busy with his own issues in NYC and beyond. Plus, the end of No Way Home gave Parker plenty of problems to solve, all of which seemingly require his own film. It also gives us a chance to get a nice post-credits crossover scene.
As for Evans, his return was widely anticipated, despite the actor shutting down rumours: “That’s not true”, he said, “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple years—ever since Endgame. I’ve just stopped responding to it... Yeah, no—happily retired!” It seems we should’ve believed him, or should we?
When is Avengers: Doomsday released?
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theatres on May 1, 2026. Robert Downey Jr. will return to the MCU as Victor Von Doom, not Iron Man, who - spoiler alert - died at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
