Update:

Let’s get one thing straight right off the bat: don’t be weird on an airplane. There are already too many things on the minds of those doing their jobs for you to take up any extra brainspace.

If only the person who asked the upcoming strange question had thought about that before boarding their flight from Maui, Hawaii, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

On Reddit, one user shared a story titled “In today’s edition of Things NOT to ask a flight attendant…” about a passenger whose question got them reported to the cabin manager.

Hey, totally random question,” they reportedly said from Seat 1B, one of the closest seats to the flight deck. “But on my last couple of flights, I noticed the flight attendants didn’t block access to the galley when the pilot used the lavatory. Is this a new procedure for you guys?”

The flight leader was called over after the crew member didn’t know how to respond.

When the attendant replied, “That’s not something I can discuss with you,” the passenger responded rudely, “Oh, excuse me—I didn’t realise I wasn’t allowed to ask questions.”

‘Seriously? Don’t you remember 9/11?

The flight leader calmly explained that questions regarding aircraft safety couldn’t be discussed with passengers, which only made the passenger angrier: “That’s weird. Why is that?”

Seriously?” came the reply. “You know why. Don’t you remember 9/11? We cannot talk about that stuff. So thank you for letting us know what you observed on your previous flights.”

Unbelievable that this guy can’t understand why it might be suspicious for the passenger seated in one of the two seats closest to the flight deck door to ask about galley obstruction procedures,” the Reddit user concluded. We agree, gabe840. Guys, don’t be weird.
