Update:

Kevin Durant has been heavily rumoured to be departing the Phoenix Suns this season, and plenty of teams are circling.

The two-time Championship winner is currently trying to secure his 11th-placed side a playoff spot but it may end up being his final act in Phoenix: he is into the last year of a four-year, $198 million extension.

I want my career to end on my terms, that’s the only thing. That’s the only thing I’m worried about. ‘Cause I see a lot of dudes that don’t get that opportunity, so I want to keep putting in that work to make that choice on my own”, Durant admitted on "The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis" last month.

It is widely reported that Durant does not have a no-trade clause like Suns teammate Bradley Beal but any move away will be done on his terms.

Which team will Kevin Durant join?

Various media outlets and fans have repeatedly posed questions about which team Durant could leave to, as well as whether or not he would be willing to sign a two-year, $122 million extension. “Durant can be a free agent in 2026, it is unlikely a team trades draft capital and players for a one-year rental”, claimed ESPN.

The Houston Rockets have been sounded out as a possible destination for Durant. They have the ability to offer young talent and would get a future Hall of Famer in return. As well as that, the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as potential candidates to take on his huge contract.

However, perhaps the most intriguing rumour is that of the Dallas Mavericks, who may want to link Durant up with Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis as they look to get over the huge loss of Luka Doncic, who is finding his feet at the Los Angeles Lakers. As well as the Mavs, the Lakers and Spurs are also potentials for Durant, who will not be without his suitors should his departure be confirmed.
