Steph Curry admits he wants to emulate Michael Jordan in one specific way
The Golden State Warriors star admitted he wants to own an NBA team one day, emulating Michael Jordan.

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry recently admitted that he holds a desire to one day own a team in the NBA.
In comments made to CNBC, Curry revealed that he would like to follow in the footsteps of Michael Jordan, who bought shares in the Charlotte Hornets in 2006 before becoming its majority owner in 2010.
“He might be the only one in our generation who has sat in that seat and done it that way,” Curry told the outlet.
‘You’ll see me in the seat somewhere down the road”
“The idea of being a part of an ownership group and the right opportunity that allows me to have an impact on how a franchise should be operated, how you’re going after true winning like we’ve done here with the Warriors, that’s something I’m excited about pursuing“, he said.
A minority stake requires less financial commitment and demands less time; the responsibility is also lower, and decisions aren’t necessarily in your hands. This is something Steph Curry is well aware of—hence, his ambitions are much grander:
“It’s interesting,” the Warriors superstar said about becoming a majority shareholder. “Obviously, as an active player, you can’t participate at that level until you’re done. So you’ll see me in the seat somewhere down the road.”
When Michael Jordan bought the Hornets, he paid $275 million, later selling his majority stake to Gabe Plotkin and Rick Schnall in 2023 for $3 billion.
Curry, for his part, will earn $156 million in 2025. And although his net worth is estimated between $240 and $300 million, a large group of investors would be necessary if he were serious about getting his foot in the door of the executive meeting room.
For now, however, there is life left in the legs of the two-time MVP: over 70 regular-season games in 2024-25, Curry finished as the league leader in 3-pointers made, 3-pointers and free throws attempted while putting up averages of 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
