One theory suggests Cristiano Ronaldo is linked to break-up of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen
The Buccaneers quarterback announced his retirement from the NFL in February and a month and a half later he returned, curiously after seeing a Ronaldo hat-trick.
Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen have officially filed for divorce, as of Friday 28 October 2022. The pair filed similar messages on Instagram saying that “co-parenting” would be their priority. In total the couple were married for 13 years; they have two children together, Benjamin (12) and Vivian (9). They also parent Brady’s first child Jack (15), who he had with former girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.
In breaking the news to his followers, Brady said that the couple “arrived at this decision [to divorce] amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together.” Brady said the priority for the couple is their children and that they plan to “work together as parents” to “ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve.”
Brady’s marriage was in difficulty for some time
The marriage of Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen had been hanging by a thread for a while and it appears that a final separation is imminent. The couple had been immersed in what has been described as an “epic fight” since August and, according to reports, they have already hired divorce lawyers to put an end to their relationship permanently. The Brazilian model had already left the family home and did not attend the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ first game of the season, so despite the fact that she supported him on social media, everything indicates that things are drawing to an end.
An issue that was repeated cited as a major cause was Brady’s return to NFL action, having previously stated that last season was his final bow to the game. And in recent days new theories have emerged about the involvement of Cristiano Ronaldo in the U-turn.
On 1 February 2022, Tom Brady shared the big news on social media announcing his retirement. The legendary quarterback understood that he was not going to be at 100% and thus it was going to be impossible to be as successful as he wanted to be. That too would allow him to spend more time at home with the family.
More than a month later, though, on 12 March, he visited Old Trafford to take in a Manchester United match against Tottenham. That day Cristiano Ronaldo had an outstanding performance and was the author of all three goals scored by the Red Devils against the team led by Antonio Conte. Brady went down to the pitch after the final whistle and congratulated the Portuguese star before having a warm and cordial hug: “Great game. Well played”, he told the United man. They then had a short talk in which Cristiano wanted to know if Tom really had finished his playing career, but the quarterback just made a sad face and didn’t answer the question.

Just a few hours after that encounter with Ronaldo’s hat-trick performance -- at the age of 37 -- Brady decided to reverse his decision and return to the NFL routine. “These last two months I have realized that my place is still on the pitch and not in the stands. That time will come, but it’s not now,” he explained. Unbeknownst to him, Brady was digging the grave for his marriage.
Maybe it was the fault of the Glazer family who owns both Manchester United and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, suggested some. Other pointed to maybe it being Cristiano Ronaldo scoring three goals at that ripe old age and showing what was possible. Or maybe it was just Tom for not being honest with his wife about his plans, and not taking her opinion into account before deciding to return to the NFL.
The fact is that all these things happened in just two days and the theory that blames the footballer has been circulating in recent days as people search for reasons.
