This Sunday, Patrick Mahomes will play in his fifth Super Bowl - a feat which up until now, only 22 players have achieved. While he maybe a long way of the all-time record of 10 Super Bowl appearances, held by NFL legend Tom Brady, at least the Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback has time on his side. So who knows, maybe one day he will get to play in his 11th title game.

Mahomes will break one record when his team takes on the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans on Sunday. He and Chiefs' placekicker Harrison Butker will become the first players under the age of 30 to have starred in five Super Bowls.

Players who have starred in five or more Super Bowls

Preston Pearson was the first player to play in five Super Bowls and the first to appear in the Super Bowl with three different teams (The Colts, the Steelers and the Cowboys). He celebrated his 31st birthday on the eve of Super Bowl X in which his Cowboys team were defeated by his old team, the Steelers.

Marv Fleming and Bill Romanowski were both 32, Larry Cole was 33 and Adam Vinatieri was 34 by the time they’d played their fifth Super Bowl.

Mahomes turned 29 in September and Butker reached the same landmark a couple of months earlier in July.

Whatever happens on Sunday, whether the Chiefs complete a three-peat or not, Mahomes and Butker will enter the history books regardless.
