This is the reason why Jaxson Dart will be QB2 in the 2025 NFL Draft: “His game translates to the NFL”

The 2025 NFL Draft kicks off tonight with round 1 starting at 8 p.m. ET from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. This year’s quarterback class is relatively weak compared to last year. Miami Hurricanes’ Cam Ward is expected to be taken No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans, but the rest of the QBs behind him don’t rank nearly as high.

While Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders was the clear No. 2 behind Ward for a while there, many experts are projecting that he’ll slide in the first round with some saying that they expect Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart to be selected ahead of Sanders.

Jaxson Dart: “Baker Mayfield, with less arm”

In a recent article, Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer compared the quarterbacks in this year’s draft class and compared Dart to Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, saying he’s him, but “with less arm”.

An NFC quarterback coach also compared him to Mayfield as well as ranked Dart ahead of Sanders in the 2025 draft class. He highlighted Dart’s athleticism, arm strength, and deep-ball accuracy, noting that he “checks all the boxes” for a modern NFL quarterback. Dart’s performance at the NFL Scouting Combine further solidified his status as a top-tier prospect.

In contrast, Shedeur Sanders, despite his success at Colorado, has faced criticism from some NFL evaluators. An anonymous coach described Sanders as “entitled” and questioned his readiness for the NFL, suggesting that he may not be as prepared as other quarterbacks in the draft class.

As the draft approaches, Dart’s rising stock and Sanders’ critiques have made the quarterback position one of the most intriguing storylines. Teams are closely evaluating both players to determine who will be the first quarterback selected. We’ll soon find out.
