2025 NFL season dates: first game, regular season, playoffs, Super Bowl LX
It may seem like a long way off, but the 2025 NFL season will start on Thursday, September 4, 2025. That will come after three weeks of preseason, which usually begins on the first weekend of August (exact dates have yet to be confirmed).
The regular season will run through to Sunday, January 4, 2026, with the postseason action slated to begin the following weekend on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
Super Bowl LX will be held at Levi’s Stadium, the home of the San Francisco 49ers, in Santa Clara, California on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
Unless the league changes the way it usually operates between now and September, the Philadelphia Eagles, as Super Bowl champions, will play in the first game of the 2025 season at home at Lincoln Financial Field. Their opponent will be announced in the spring.
We do know, however, that the Eagles are due to play the following teams at home, which could happen on Week 1: Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Washington Commanders, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Rams.
