Who is Jaquan Brisker? Meet the new Steelers safety

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most active teams during this NFL free agency period, as five new additions have already been confirmed.

• S Jaquan Brisker
• S Darnell Savage

The latest addition is Jaquan Brisker, the former Chicago Bears safety, who agreed to a one-year deal worth $5.5 million with Pittsburgh. Brisker was originally selected by Chicago with the 48th overall pick in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

A homecoming for Brisker

Brisker was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, making this move something of a homecoming. During his time with the Bears, he played in 52 games and started all of them, quickly establishing himself as a reliable defensive presence.

Known as one of the better tackling safeties in the league, Brisker now joins a Steelers defense that already features several intriguing pieces, including:

• CB Joey Porter Jr.
• CB Jamel Dean
• CB Jalen Ramsey
• S DeShon Elliott

With those players in place, Pittsburgh is clearly looking to strengthen their secondary as they prepare for the 2026 season.
