Why isn’t T.J. Watt playing for the Steelers against the Bills in the Wild Card game?

The Pittsburgh team must find a way to replace T.J. Watt in his absence while also taking advantage of the potential weaknesses in the Bills’ team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have suffered a significant setback as star defender T.J. Watt is out due to a grade 2 MCL sprain he sustained during a game against the Ravens. Though there were concerns that it could be a more severe grade 3 sprain, the diagnosis indicates a partial tear that typically requires two to four weeks of recovery. While the severity of Watt’s knee injury still remains unclear, his determination to return to the field is well-known.

Unfortunately, Watt’s absence will be felt during the Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills, especially in disrupting quarterbacks, particularly against a mobile signal-caller like Josh Allen. His ability to force turnovers and pressure opposing offenses will be sorely missed in a game where every play counts.

Despite the setback, the Steelers are a dangerous team with nothing to lose. Some see them as underdogs, but they have previously pulled off upsets in Buffalo. Though the Bills are a formidable team, they have shown vulnerability by narrowly winning home games against strong opponents in recent years.

The weather conditions in Buffalo on Monday are expected to be windy, with gusts potentially reaching up to 45 mph. While quarterbacks like Josh Allen are known for their ability to navigate adverse weather, the impact on the running game becomes a key consideration. With wind playing a role, running the ball effectively becomes crucial for both teams.

In addition, the resilience of quarterbacks like Allen and Patrick Mahomes in adverse weather conditions is somewhat crucial, given their exceptional arm strength and ability to cut through the elements.
