Inside the 2025 Masters at Augusta National: Key dates, top players and information for fans
The field has now been confirmed for the 2025 Masters Tournament, held at the Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler picked up his second Masters Tournament title in Augusta last year, finishing with a four-shot lead to claim the famous green jacket. Scheffler is looking to make it three victories in four years at this year’s tournament but he faces tough competition.
The 89th Masters will be held from Thursday, April 10 to Sunday, April 13 at the Augusta National Golf Club. The tee times and groupings won’t be released until Tuesday, April 8 but we do now know the identity of all 96 players teeing off.
Speaking ahead of this year’s tournament, Scheffler sounded confident and ready to challenge for a place in the history books once again.
“Feeling pretty good. Excited about the stuff that we’re working on right now and game feels like it’s in a good spot,” he said. “I feel like I’m getting a little bit sharper, and I feel like I’m improving a little bit ... I’m definitely in the swing of a normal year now.”
Who is going to win the Masters?
Scottie Scheffler is the bookmakers’ favourite heading into the weekend, slightly ahead of Rory McIlroy. Scheffler has the proven track record at Augusta but McIlroy, who hasn’t previously won the Masters, comes into the tournament in real form. The Northern Irishman has already picked up two PGA Tour wins this year.
Also in contention is Ludvig Aberg, the Swede who finished runner-up to Scheffler in 2024. He will be looking to follow in the footsteps of Jordan Speith by finishing second in his debut season before going one better the following year.
Elsewhere Xander Schauffele has a solid record at the Masters and won his first two majors during a successful 2024 season. Similarly, world No. 5 Collin Morikawa has made the top three in each of his past three starts at the Masters, most recently finishing third in 2024.
There are also a number of LIV Golf stars in contention, most notably 2023 Masters champion Jon Rahm. LIV colleagues Dustin Johnson (2020), Patrick Reed (2018) and Sergio Garcia (2017) have also triumphed at the Masters in previous years.
Is Tiger Woods playing at the Masters?
With five Masters titles to his name, Tiger Woods is behind only Jack Nicklaus (six) in the all-time standings. Woods had reportedly been planning a return to Augusta but he is still recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon sustained in March. The injury will have been a major blow for Woods but he was able to poke fun of the issue on social media.
He wrote: “I can’t believe I am saying this, but a few weeks after rupturing my left Achilles, the sleeping in a hyperbaric chamber plus the explosive lifts, my doctors and trainers have me ready to play the Masters next week! Can’t wait! See y’all on the course.”
Minutes later he added: “P.S. April Fools my Achilles is still a mess :)”
Woods isn’t in the picture but there is an opportunity for Scheffler to join an elite group of Masters champions. A third victory would put him level with Jimmy Demaret, Gary Player, Sam Snead, Nick Faldo and Phil Mickelson, while only Nicklaus, Woods and Arnold Palmer (four) would be ahead of him in terms of Masters wins.
