CONCACAF CHAMPIONS CUP
André Jardine confirms that Julián Quiñones is not available for Club América against New England Revolution
Jardine confirmed that the Mexican winger is out of the CONCACAF Champions Cup game against the MLS side.
After defeating Atlético de San Luis, Las Águilas will face the New England Revolution in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Champions League. Not everything looks good for the Azulcremas, since attacker Julián Quiñones will be out and will not have minutes against the MLS team, according to coach André Jardiné.
“Everyone here is available for the game, they are fit to play, but from there it is a decision that we will have to make on a case-by-case basis in the game, if they come in during the game, or start the game, each situation is very particular, but yes, everyone is fit except Quiñones, who really is an important absence”, commented the Brazilian at the press conference.
América ‘best game we play all season’ says Porter
“Of course, Quiñones is building his importance during the matches, but when he is not there, there will be another player who also has a lot of potential, who can be unbalanced, who can be decisive,” he explained.
As for the MLS side, Revolution head coach Caleb Porter said that “it’s been nice to have training, as always, and a little break too. What we went through with eight games in 24 days was a gauntlet, very difficult. And then you can see guys were chewed up mentally and physically... Now playing Club América, you know it’s going to be arguably the best game we play all season. One of the most talented teams you’re ever going to see in this continent. A true positional play team, a team that dominates games with the ball and presses very high and plays extremely aggressive with or without the ball. It’s a huge task for us.”

New England Revolution have had a poor start to the season in the MLS Eastern Conference. After 5 games played they are yet to win and have drawn only 1 game. They have scored 4 goals and conceded a whopping 11, and sit rock bottom of the table. Their only point came in their most recent game, against Chicago Fire FC on March 23 at Gillette Stadium.
The game between Club América and the New England Revolution is scheduled for this Tuesday Tuesday, April 2 at 9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT. The second leg will be played on Tuesday 9th at 10:30 p.m. / 7:30 p.m.
