Copa América 2024 dates confirmed

Conmebol confirmed that the next edition of the Copa América will be hosted by the United States between June and July 2024.

The Copa América returns to the United States as part of the preparation for the 2026 World Cup. Today, Conmebol announced the dates for the tournament which will feature 10 South American teams and six guest teams from the CONCACAF region.

Through a statement, Conmebol announced that there are exactly 365 days to go before the next edition of the Copa América gets underway. The tournament will take place between 20 June and 15 July. Title holders Argentina, one of the 10 confirmed teams so far, will be attempting to defend the trophy.

“We are happy to officially announce the opening and final dates of the Conmebol Copa América 2024, a new edition in which we will invite you to celebrate and experience the passion that this competition generates,” said Conmebol president Alejandro Domínguez.

A total of 16 nations will be taking part in the 2024 Copa América - 10 Conmebol teams along with the six best CONCACAF teams to emerge from the 2023/24 CONCACAF Nations League, which begins in September. The United States won both of the first two editions of the competition, lifting the trophy for the second time this week after beating Canada 2-0 in Las Vegas. Despite being the reigning champions, the USMNT will not automatically qualify. For the Conmebol participants, the four quarter final winners will advance to the 2024 Copa América where they will be joined by the two teams to emerge from the ties between winners of the Play-in round and the losers of the quarter finals.

Venues to be defined

Although the dates for the event have been announced, Conmebol have yet to release any details about the stadiums that will hosting the matches. Information about the venues is expected at a later date.
