We will have to wait longer for Yerry Mina’s return. Frank Lampard confirmed that the Colombian is still injured and will absent for the match between Everton and Crystal Palace at Goodison Park this Saturday, October 22 (09:00 Colombia time; 16:00 CEST).

In the press conference prior to the match, the Toffees coach was frank when asked about the central defender’s condition: “He hasn’t returned”. He then gave some positive news in that Nathan Patterson’s return schedule has been pushed forward, and he hopes to be able to have the defender back next week.

It’s already been two and a half months for Mina since he last saw action; the centre-back got injured in Everton’s inaugural game of the Premier League season, a narrow home loss to Chelsea. The Colombian was on the pitch for 70 minutes and was replaced after sustaining an ankle ligament injury.

In recent weeks, the defender returned to training, but “suffered a setback”, as Lampard phrased it at the time. It has kept him out of the squad in their most recent games: consecutive losses to Manchester United (1-2), Tottenham Hotspur (2-0) and Newcastle United (1-0).

The Toffees need to win at home to break their losing streak and move away from the bottom of the table, as they currently sit in 15th place in the league with 10 points, a solitary point above the relegation places.
