Following André Jardine’s departure from the América bench - and with Guillermo Almada’s arrival seemingly imminent - the club’s front office is already beginning to outline what could be its first marquee signing for the next Liga MX tournament.

According to TUDN reporter Gibran Araige, Luis Chávez could become an América player ahead of the Apertura 2026, a possibility that has gained significant traction in recent days.

Almada an admirer

Araige adds that Almada would strongly welcome the midfielder’s arrival, viewing him as a key potential piece in his project. The Uruguayan is said to consider Chávez an ideal fit for his system and style of play.

It’s worth noting that Almada previously coached Chávez at Pachuca, where the two enjoyed major success together - including lifting the Apertura 2022 title, one of the most important achievements in the midfielder’s career.

Chávez’s current situation in Europe

Chávez has been with Dynamo Moscow since 2023, but his stint in Russia has not been without challenges, particularly due to physical setbacks he has faced in recent months.

In June 2025, the midfielder suffered a serious injury that sidelined him for roughly 10 months, disrupting his continuity. He only returned to action in March, gradually working his way back to full match fitness.

Chávez’s contract status

Chávez is currently under contract with Dynamo through the summer of 2027, which complicates any early exit. Any interested club would need to negotiate a formal transfer with the Russian outfit.

In that context, América would have to make a significant financial commitment to secure his signing, with the deal expected to fall in the $6-7 million range. While a sizable fee for a Liga MX club to play, it reflects the profile and quality of the Mexican international midfielder.
