Jürgen Klopp signs new deal with Liverpool
Klopp will extend his deal at Anfield and has been re-energised by his quadruple-chasing Liverpool side.
Jürgen Klopp has signed a contract extension to remain in charge of Liverpool until 2026, with the Premier League club officially confirming the news on Thursday.
The German manager’s original deal was set to expire in 2024 but he has agreed to terms to extend his stay at Anfield.
Reports have previously suggested that Klopp would leave Liverpool and take a sabbatical after the 2023/24 season.
Klopp’s successful spell on Merseyside
The 54-year-old has been at Liverpool since 2015/16 and led the club to their sixth Champions League trophy in 2019. The following year he helped the Anfield outfit end a 30-year wait for a league title.
Despite being in the job for what can nowadays be considered a lengthy spell, he has reportedly been re-energised by his quadruple-chasing side.
Quadruple-chasing Liverpool
Liverpool have already lifted the EFL Cup this season. On 14 May, they face Chelsea in the FA Cup final, while their 2-0 Champions League win over Villarreal on Wednesday night gives them a strong advantage going into the second leg in Spain next week.
In the Premier League title race, they are a single point behind Manchester City at the top of the league with five games remaining.
