Update:

Palmeiras’ Richard Ríos delivered a standout performance against Porto on his Club World Cup debut, having turned his form around after a challenging start to the year.

The Colombia international’s impressive display in Sunday’s 0-0 draw has already caught the attention of several clubs worldwide, with Manchester United reportedly leading the chase.

Rúben running rule of Ríos

The historic English club is keen to move ahead of other interested teams, Givemesport reports, especially with the imminent departure of Christian Eriksen. United’s manager, Rúben Amorim, is closely monitoring Ríos’ performances in the Club World Cup.

Should he maintain this level of play, United is expected to make a formal offer to Palmeiras, who recently extended Ríos’ contract until 2028 and are seeking a substantial fee for his transfer.

A six-figure buyout fee

United’s management is aware that the deal will be neither easy nor cheap, with Ríos’ release clause set at around €100 million ($115 million). The 25-year-old midfielder dreams of playing in Europe and competing at the highest level.

Givemesport has revealed that Ríos is one of the most closely followed players in the Club World Cup, with scouts from 10 different European clubs observing him.

Reports from Portugal indicate that Porto was impressed with his talent and performance, potentially adding him to their list of new signings.

Premier League teams are particularly interested in Ríos. Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace and Wolves are all tracking him in the United States. The Club World Cup could be pivotal for the Colombian’s career.
