The international press did not hold back against a PSG side that added a new UCL failure to their long list of continental defeats.
It’s happened again, in Europe and the Champions League. PSG managed another failure in Europe’s elite competition at the hands of Bayern Munich and the French club’s eternal obsession with lifting the long-awaited trophy will have to wait at least one more year. Without shame or glory and without a trace of Leo Messi, Kylian Mbappé or Sergio Ramos, Galtier’s team collapsed at the Allianz Arena and, for the second consecutive year, were unable to get past the Round of 16. With incalculable millions in the side but lacking a scoring touch, they finished the tie with zero goals against the Bavarians. “The great void” remains.
Fate was against PSG and the end was cruel for a side that the stadium with yet another inescapable sense of déjà vu; the evening turned into a nightmare in a competition that, once again, sprinkled in a dose of reality to the super-club.
