The first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals could have a major impact on the return game. Across the four games, a total of 29 players were one booking away from suspension and would miss the second leg that decides the tie if they are cautioned. Real Madrid lost one.

Barça - Atlético yellow card concerns

In the all-Spanish showdown between Barcelona and Atlético Madrid, the list of players at risk is extensive.

For Barcelona, the biggest concern is Lamine Yamal, while Marc Casadó, Fermín López and Gerard Martín are also walking a fine line. Any yellow card for one of them in the first leg would rule them out of the decisive return game.

Atlético Madrid’s situation is especially delicate in defense. Robin Le Normand, Clément Lenglet and Marcos Llorente are all one booking away from suspension, while Marc Pubill, Matteo Ruggeri, Giuliano Simeone and Álex Baena are also at risk. That leaves Diego Simeone facing the possibility of losing several key pieces for the second leg if discipline becomes an issue in Barcelona.
