Will Jude Bellingham be available for Borussia Dortmund’s season-defining match?

Dortmund can win the Bundesliga title this weekend.

Borussia Dortmund host Mainz at home this weekend and can break Bayern Munich’s streak of 10 consecutive Bundesliga titles with a win. If Bayern fail to win their game, Dortmund, even if they lose, would still come out on top, as they are two points ahead of their top-of-the-table challengers. They could be without their biggest star, Bellingham, for this match.

The England midfielder missed Sunday’s game against Augsburg due to knee problems and has not trained with the Dortmund squad in over a week. According to German outlet Bild, Bellingham didn’t train yesterday and if the England international fails to recover, he may have already played in a Dortmund shirt for the last time. “I’m doing everything I can to be available,” Bellingham said on social media. Bellingham could end up coming off the bench, as a start now looks quite unlikely with just three days to go.

Bellingham’s last Dortmund game?

If he does miss out, however, the match against Gladbach on 13 May, in which he scored a goal, could be his final game for the club, with a summer move away looking increasingly likely. Real Madrid have an agreement with the midfielder and Los Blancos now have to negotiate with Dortmund for his signing, which will be for more than €100m.
