Pepe takes veiled swipe at Real Madrid fans
"Besiktas supporters are fantastic, there (Real Madrid) the fans were not so passionate. A player here is motivated to play well" claimed the Portuguese defender.
Képler Laveran Lima Ferreira aka Pepe moved from Real Madrid to Istanbul earlier in the summer after the Spanish club declined to extend his contract. The defender spoke to Spanish television network La Sexta and spoke of his happiness with the move to Besiktas and also took a thinly veiled swipe at the Real Madrid fans.
Passion
When comparing both clubs, the Portuguese international stated: "Besiktas fans are fantastic. At times when playing for Real Madrid we had to motivate ourselves as the fans were not so passionate. Here at Besiktas, every player heads onto the pitch fully motivated to perform well with the aid of great support".

Pepe left Real Madrid after a ten year spell with the LaLiga side moving to the Super Lig on a free transfer after negotiations to extend his contract with the Spanish outfit failed to yield dividends as Madrid were only prepared to offer him a one season extension rather the the two he was looking for. Despite significant interest his servicies from both Inter Milan and PSG, the 34 opted for the Turkish champions. Upon arrival with the "Kara Kartallar" Pepe stated: "I spent ten marvelous years in Madrid winning both domestic and Champions League titles and my two daughters were born in the Spanish capital too".
