Liverpool win legal kit battle with New Balance
The Premier League side won their legal battle against current kit provider New Balance and are now free to work with Oregon based Nike as new technical and kit provider.
After a three-day trial in London, a judge overseeing the case has ruled on the side of Liverpool Football Club in their action against current playing kit provider New Balance.
New Balance claimed that a clause in the existing contract gave the Boston based company the right to match any offer from a competitor, and they maintain the firm has done exactly that.
Liverpool countered stating New Balance could not compete with the distribution capabilities offered by potential new supplier Nike who they maintained had a more extensive marketing reach.
Reports also suggest that Nike had already spent more than six million euro on designing the 2020-21 playing, training kit along with a range of leisure wear for the Premier League side.
LFC statement
"Liverpool FC is pleased with the judge's decision to rule in favour of the club following the legal dispute with our current kit supplier, New Balance," a LFC statement said.
"We will continue with New Balance for the current season, in combination with preparing next season's Liverpool kits with our new supplier."
