American based sports trading card manufacturer Topps have confirmed that sales of their limited-edition card featuring Dr. Anthony Fauci pitching ahead of the 2020 MLB season opener Nationals-Yankees game has become the bestselling card in the history of Topps Now, the company's collection of limited-edition cards.
Dr. Fauci, an infectious disease expert who is on Donald Trump's coronavirus task force, is one of the most trusted people in government and many Americans listen to his advice diligently on how to protect themselves from infection.
The special edition Topps Now cards are available for only 24 hours on the Topps website with the company confirming a sell-out of the limited print run of 51,512 cards which was available for $9.99 for a 24 hour period.
The card is now destined to become a holy grail and much coveted by MLB card collectors with Fauci cards inevitably set to end up on the secondary market for a highly inflated price.
