US Election 2020: USMNT encourages people to vote
Today, 3 November, is election day in the United States and the U.S. Soccer MNT is encouraging all who are eligible to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
Today, 3 November, is presidential election day, just as it is every four years in the United States. And the soccer US Men's National Team has urged eligible citizens to cast their vote for either current president, Donald Trump, or his democratic rival, Joe Biden.
USMNT encouraging people to vote
On the day the USMNT announced the 24-player roster for the friendly game against Wales for its second camp of 2020, the team also encouraged people who are eligible to exercise their constitutional right to vote to do it.
The USMNT used its twitter account to publish three consecutive stories encouraging people to vote, register to vote and explain the rights as a voter.

California, Colorado, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, New Hampshire, Utah, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming are the states that have same-day registration to vote on 3 November, even where the individual has not registered before.

Why is the vote held on a Tuesday?
Since 1845 the presidential elections have been held on the first Tuesday of November, because Friday, Saturday and Sunday were considered worship days. Wednesdays were market days and on November 1, Catholics celebrate All Saints Day.
