Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal announced on Monday night that they have officially completed the signing of Porto's Malian attacker Mousa Marega on a free transfer deal with a contract that runs as of the start of the next season though to June 2024.

The club's officials headed by Fahed Bin Nafel broke the news to "Al Zaeem" supporters via a video that was published on their official social media accounts.

Recent reports in Portugal had confirmed that the player was in talks with Al Hilal after he entered his free-agent period at which he is entitled to sign for any club without the need for his current club's approval as his contract with Porto runs out by the end of the current season.

Marega is expected to earn 15 million euros over three years

The reports revealed that Al Hilal offered the 30-year-old 15 million euros over the three years in addition to 5 million upon signing the contract. The Malian has played for several clubs including Amiens SC, C.S. Marítimo, and Esperance Sportive de Tunis, before joining the Portuguese side's ranks in 2017.

Marega's deal comes as a part of Al Hilal comprehensive plan to reinforce their squad for the next season especially amid the wide-spread speculations on the potential departure of their prolific attacker Bafétimbi Gomis.

Al Hilal are currently leading the Saudi Pro League table on 51 points 3 points ahead of their closest chaser A Shabab with four rounds remaining this season. The Saudi side have also made it to the AFC Champions League round of 16 having come in second place of Group A.
