Fight night is finally almost here. After months, almost years of talk Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul will go toe-to-toe in an eight round exhibition on June 6th. The trash has been talked, the insults exchanged and now the stage is set.

Mayweather vs Paul June 6th at Hard Rock Stadium

Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium will be the coliseum for the spectacle between the YouTube star and the undefeated boxing champion of the world. The stadium has hosted Super Bowls, baseball games and concerts, but has never hosted a boxing match.

Located in Miami Gardens, 347 Don Shula Drive has been the home of the Miami Dolphins, the Miami Hurricanes and the Florida Marlins. Six Super Bowls have been played there, the last of which was in 2019 when the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Fransico 49ers.Super Bowls to Rod Stewart

There have also been college football national championship games played there. The last of which was in 2013 when Alabama took down Notre Dame to take the title.

Eight name changes and 33 years later, Hard Rock Stadium still stands

The Stadium broke ground in the mid 80’s and opened in 1987. It has gone through eight different name changes, the first of which was Joe Robbie, and the last before it’s current name change in 2016 was was Sun Life Stadium.

Rod Stewart and Hall and Oates were the first musicians to break ground at the stadium, with their concert on July 3rd 1988.

There have been just about as many reformations as were have been name changes. The current Hard Rock Stadium looks nothing like the Joe Robbie stadium from over 30 years ago.

Over 60,000 expected for the Mayweater vs Paul exhibition

Standard attendance for football games, which are the most common events held at the stadium is around 64,000 fans. The record for attendance was set for the last BCS Title game, when over 80,000 filled the stadium to watch Alabama win their 11th national title.

Miami has never been a boxing hotspot, but because of lightened Covid restriction throughout the state of Florida, Hard Rock Stadium makes for a perfect venue. An expected crowd of around 60,000 will be in attendance.
