Ancelotti: “I am living my honeymoon in Madrid"
Carlo Ancelotti gave an interview to Radio 1, in which he discussed his return to Real Madrid and gave his thoughts on why English football is ahead of the rest right now.
In an interview with Radio 1, Carlo Ancelotti reiterated his happiness about his return to Real Madrid, stating: “I am living my honeymoon in Madrid and I hope to stay for many years.”
The Italian coach touched on a number of topics, including Madrid, the Champions League, the World Cup, Italian football, Jose Mourinho and the superiority of English football.
Ancelotti quotes from Radio 1 interview
Season start: "We started with some difficulty, like everyone else, but we have great spirit and we managed to fix the games with character."
LaLiga: "Spanish football lost very important players, but there are still many and among them is Vinicius, who luckily is ours."
Champions League: "I don't think there will be surprises among the favorites, they are still the same and we'll see what will happen in March."
Super League: "The day I start talking about politics will be the day I will leave football. I prefer to talk about what happens on the field."
World Cup: "Play every two years? Well, since we are at it, why not play it every year (laughs). The calendars are a serious problem, something needs to be changed. There are games that make little sense, FIFA and UEFA should talk about it, although right now they don't agree.”
Ancelotti: “English football is ahead right now”
Brahim Diaz: "In Madrid he had no space due to competition, but he is important for us, we are happy that he is doing well at AC Milan. For his growth it was essential that he played and if we chose the Rossoneri club it was because we know its structured well."
Inter Milan game: "They played very well against us, I think they can win the scudetto again, although I see Serie A being very close. Juve have some problems, they have lost a lot of certainty and cannot have continuity. In football that usually happens, but they will come back" .
Mourinho: "Rome is a place suitable for his character, I always said that. I thought it was perfect for him and I'm sure that, in the end, it will be that way. I hope Roma win titles with Mourinho.”
Naples: "I spent two splendid years there, but I know how this works and I think it ended in the right way. When there is no harmony between club and coach it is better to separate. The club is still competitive, it can compete to win."
Premier League: "English football is ahead right now, that is something that is also talked about in Spain. The English play with a higher level of intensity."
