Liga MX 2021 Playoffs: which team has played more finals?

We're down to four clubs battling it out for this season's Liga MX 2021 Apertura title but which club has made the final of this competition the most times?

Update:

Club América may have been brushed aside in the quarter finals by a ruthless Pumas UNAM side who fought back from going a goal behind, and they will therefore not have a chance to add to their record 23 finals played in, 13 of which they were victorious.

Liga MX champions through the years

Instead we will see either Atlas or Pumas UNAM and one of Tigres UANL or Club León reaching this year’s showpiece final. Atlas, it should be noted, have made it to only four finals before, winning a single title back in the 1950/51 season. Compared to the other three semi-finalists they are some way behind historically.

Related news:

Pumas and Tigres have both won the title seven times each, with UNAM having made it to eight other finals to UANL’s additional five. Léon, for their part, have been crowned champions eight times out of their 14 finals.

One of these clubs will soon be writing another page of their history books.
