Update:

Demi Moore has been in show business for over four decades, getting her start in a soap opera as a teenager then making a name for herself as part of the 1980s ‘Brat Pack’. Her career soared after that to become the highest-paid actress in the world.

However, she was widely viewed as just a commercial performer and not one with deeper talent. Despite her long career she received almost no recognition for her performances from the industry. That is until her most recent role as Elisabeth Sparkle in ‘The Substance’. The body-horror comedy earned Moore her first Oscar nomination and she has already won a Golden Globe for her performance.

She had been ready to call it quits with acting, but was given to a change of heart after reading the script for ‘The Substance’ which she found “magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box, absolutely bonkers.”

Demi Moore Awards

Moore was nominated for her first Academy Award of her career this year. She is going head to head for the Best Actress Oscar against Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora) and Fernanda Torres (I’m Still Here). Nearly the same contenders for the Golden Globe she was awarded, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical, earlier this year.

She was previously nominated for a Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Comedy or Musical Golden Globe in 1991 for her performance in ‘Ghost’. She won a Saturn Award from the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror for that role.
