Instead, winners and nominees in major categories often receive an extravagant Oscar gift bag, which has inside a selection of luxury items and experiences only the rich and famous could ever need.

These outrageous gift bags have become an Oscars tradition, despite not actually being officially affiliated with the Academy.

The contents of the gift bag vary each year but typically include high-end travel experiences, beauty products, and exclusive merchandise.

For example, the 2024 gift bag included a stay at Switzerland’s luxurious Chalet Zermatt Peak, valued at over $100,000 for a week, as well as a seven-day wellness retreat at Golden Door in California.

Celebrities also enjoyed a three-night stay in a private villa in St. Barths, along with a range of designer products, gourmet food, and even collector’s edition Rubik’s Cubes. The 2025 gift bag is expected to feature offerings of a similarly extravagant taste. I remember wanting to get the end slice of cake - the one with the frosting on the side and not just the top - in my party bags as a child... and a kazoo.
