Comedy drama “Anora” is the bookmakers’ favourite to win Best Picture at this weekend’s Oscars - but if users of the internet movie database Filmaffinity had their way, the golden statuette would go elsewhere…although only just.

What are the Best Picture betting odds?

Per the odds comparison site Oddschecker, “Anora” is the frontrunner for Best Picture at odds of -200, with political thriller “Conclave,” starring Ralph Fiennes and Stanley Tucci, tipped to be its closest challenger (+240).

Period drama “The Brutalist” is the third favorite, but is some way back at +700.

Despite being nominated 13 times, more than any other film this year, “Emilia Pérez” (+6600) is not expected to pick up the top prize.

However, while bettors expect Academy members to hand top honours to “Anora”, which follows the beleaguered marriage of a sex worker and the son of a Russian oligarch, Filmaffinity’s ranking of the nominees suggests that public opinion favours “Dune: Part Two”

Of the candidates for Best Picture, it is Denis Villeneuve’s epic space opera movie that has the highest rating on the website, whose more than one million registered users are asked to give movies a score out of 10.

“Dune: Part 2” is rated at 7.7, just ahead of Brazilian political biographical drama “I’m Still Here” (7.6). “Anora” comes in third, with 7.3.

Interestingly, the two best-ranked films on Filmaffinity have been given the least chance of winning Best Picture by the bookmakers, with both having odds of +10000.

2025 Oscars: when, where, how to watch?

Held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, the 97th Academy Awards take place on Sunday, March 2 2024. Hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien, who is anchoring the Oscars for the first time, the ceremony is scheduled to begin at 4pm PT/7pm ET.

Viewers in the United States will be able to watch on ABC and can also stream the event for the first time on Hulu.
