How much has Anthony Edwards been fined by the NBA so far in the 2024/25 season?
The Minnesota Timberwolves guard has been in trouble with the league for a number of incidents during and after games.
Another round of NBA games, another fine for Anthony Edwards. The Minnesota Timberwolves star was in hot water with the league once again because of an incident - another one - in his team’s loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday (January 11).
Anthony Edwards' NBA fines in 2024/25
This time, the 23-year-old has been done to the tune of $50,000 for “making obscene gestures toward a game official,” the NBA revealed on Monday.
Edwards had previously had $35,000 taken out of his pocket for “making obscene gestures on court” - not specifically to officials - during the Timberwolves’ NBA Cup victory over the Sacramento Kings on November 15.
Those two incidents account for two of the five times the guard had been fined by the NBA so far this season.
December was a prolific month for Edwards, who was sanctioned on three separate occasions for using “profane” language.
Two of them came in postgame interviews: $25,000 after a win against at Golden State Warriors and $100,000 following the victory over the Houston Rockets. The other, which set him back $75,000, was for his bad language in criticising the officiating in a home defeat to the Warriors.
What percentage of his salary has Edwards been fined this season?
All in all, Edwards has been fined $285,000 by the NBA so far in 2024/25. Considering there is more than half of the season still to play, that amount could yet rise significantly at this rate…
However, that sum is a drop in the ocean for a high-earning NBA star. According to Spotrac, Edwards’ salary for the 2024/25 season is $42,176,400, which means he has lost just 0.68% of his earnings for the year.
