Ben Roethlisberger shocking offer to Steelers after free agency moves
The Pittsburgh Steelers have been one of the most active teams during this early stages of the NFL’s offseason as they look to bolster their offense.

The Pittsburgh Steelers mean business this offseason. They have been hindered by offensive troubles for too long, and they are looking to change that by dipping into the free agent market and making a big splash.
Metcalf the newest Steeler
Their first order of business was bringing in a top wide receiver, and that’s exactly what they did when they traded the Seattle Seahawks for DK Metcalf. The imposing passing catcher will line up along side budding wide receiver George Pickens and those two could make up one of the best WR duos in the league.
The only problem is, who is going to throw the ball to them? Both of their quarterbacks last year are free agents this offseason, and one of them Justin Fields just signed a deal with the New York Jets. Russell Wilson has stated that he wants to stay in the Steel City but at the moment it seems like Pittsbught is weighing their options.
Big Ben approved of the DK Metcalf trade. And it looks like he’s ready to come out of retirement 😳🤣

Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger likes what he sees from his former team, and went on Instagram stating that these moves are making him consider coming out of retirement. “Coach T [Mike Tomlin], are you kidding me? DK Metcalf on one side, GP (George Pickens) on the other? Muth (Pat Freiermuth) working the middle? I might need to throw my hat in the ring. If you’re looking for a guy, I might still have a couple of throws in me!” said Big Ben in a lighthearted tone.
Rodgers if no Big Ben?
Roethlisberger, 43, retired in 2021 and since then the Steelers offense has struggled to find his heir. They drafted Kenny Pickett to be his predecessor, but Pickett was let go last offseason, and just got traded again yesterday. They brought in Russell Wilson and Justin Fields within a matter of days last year, and things looked okay for a while but they Steelers offense faded late in the season.
Pittsburgh lost their final five games, including the Wild Card round match up against the Baltimore Ravens to send them into the offseason needing to sure things up on the offensive side of the ball. The Steelers defense has been one of the top units in the league for the last few years, but Wilson and the offense imploded during that five game skid to end the year.

A good core of the defense is still in tact, and now coach Tomlin will be hoping to sign a top QB in the offseason. While Roethlisberger would be welcomed with open arms by the wavers of the Terrible Towels, it might be another 40 year old QB that looks to ease the Steelers offensive pains. Aaron Rodgers is said to be one of the top targets for Pittsburgh after parting ways with the New York Jets a few weeks ago.
