Shock as Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl champion dealing with “rare, aggressive” cancer
Former NFL star JJ Watt is among those helping Bryan Braman in his battle against a devastating, serious illness.

It has been reported by ESPN that former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Bryan Braman is battling a “rare, aggressive” form of cancer, which was diagnosed in February this year.
As stated on a GoFundMe page set up to help him with medical expenses, the 38-year-old has undergone several surgical procedures as part of his treatment in Seattle, but “hasn’t been able to recover from the procedures because of his lowered immunity due to all of these treatments”. The page also explained “the cancer has grown expedentially [sic] faster, and is now growing around his vital organs.”
JJ Watt pledges to help former Texans teammate
So far, almost $70,000 has been raised to help Braman in his fight, far surpassing the initial $25,000 target. JJ Watt is the joint top donor so far, giving $10,000 to help his former Houston Texans teammate.
Braman made 87 regular-season appearances and played in seven postseason games in a seven-year NFL career with the Texans and the Eagles between 2011 and 2017.
Braman’s Super Bowl success with the Eagles
Somewhat unusually, the last NFL game he ever featured in was Super Bowl LII, in which Philadelphia defeated the New England Patriots in Minneapolis. Braman recorded one tackle in his team’s 41-33 victory, with his appearance in the championship game ensuring he will forever be fondly remembered by the Eagles fanbase.
