Who is Commanders' kicker Zane Gonzalez? Career stats, salary...
The Commanders ruled out kicker Austin Seibert from their TNF game against the Eagles, so it’s Zane Gonzalez who will take on the role against their rivals.

The Washington Commanders have a huge game for Thursday Night Football this week as they face NFC East rivals Philadelphia Eagles, who stole the division lead last week with their win over the Dallas Cowboys. Meanwhile, the Commanders are coming off a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and will be looking for a win to get back on track.

They would ideally have a healthy lineup for this game, but as it stands, there are a few injuries they’ll have to deal with, including kicker Austin Seibert, who happens to be their leading scorer.
Austin Seibert ruled out, Zane Gonzalez in
Commanders kicker Austin Seibert is dealing with a hip injury that kept him out of last week’s game against the Steelers and has finally ruled him out of tonight’s game against the Eagles as well.
That left Washington to elevate Zane Gonzalez from the practice squad for the second week in a row. The Commanders signed Gonzalez to their practice squad last week ahead of their Week 10 game and he filled in for Seibert against the Steelers.

Gonzalez’s contract, salary, and career stats
The 28-year-old kicker was drafted in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He was signed to a four-year, $2.48 million contract (with a base salary of $555,000 in 2018), but the Browns waived him just a few weeks into his second season.

The Arizona Cardinals signed Gonzalez to their practice squad and promoted him to the active roster during the 2018 season. In 2020, he was re-signed by the Cardinals to a one-year, restricted tender worth $3.27 million.
In 2021, Gonzalez signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Lions, but they cut him and re-signed him to the practice squad. The Carolina Panthers then signed him to their active roster. He appeared in 12 games and made 20 of 22 field goal tries (90.9%) plus 22 of 23 extra point attempts (95.7%).
In 2022, the Panthers gave him a two-year, $4,500,000 contract extension, including $1,250,000 signing bonus, $2,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $2,250,000. However, he was traded to the San Francisco 49ers in March 2023. He was placed on Injured Reserve after the preseason and then released in September.
In his first game with Washington, Gonzalez made both of his two field goal attempts, both from 40+ yards, and all three extra point attempts as well.
