Update:

Sam Burns is in pole position to win the first major title of his career, as the U.S. Open heads into its final round at Oakmont Country Club.

After finishing day three on four under par, Burns is one shot clear in Pennsylvania, where fellow American J.J. Spaun and Australia’s Adam Scott lead the chasing pack. Behind Spaun and Scott, Norway’s Viktor Hovland is two strokes further back.

U.S. Open - top of the leaderboard after round three:

Where are Scheffler and McIlroy?

PGA Championship winner Scottie Scheffler is in a tie for 11th after ending Saturday’s play on four over, while Masters champion Rory McIlroy is all the way down in joint 49th.

After a four-over round of 74 on day three, McIlroy - who could be seen throwing his club in frustration during the second round - is now at 10 over for the tournament.
