The situation has only added to the media attention surrounding the striker. Just a few days earlier, Mbappé had already found himself at the centre of controversy after reports revealed that he returned to Madrid only 12 minutes before kick-off for the match against Espanyol. The player had travelled to Italy to spend time with his partner while continuing his recovery from physical discomfort, a decision that drew criticism from some Real Madrid supporters, who viewed the trip as inappropriate at this stage of the season.
