Netflix aim to reveal the ‘man behind the Special One’ with new Mourinho documentary
Netflix have confirmed that the highly anticipated three part documentary, titled simply ‘Mourinho’ will get a global release next month.

Produced by the same team who brought us the David Beckham Netflix docuseries, ‘Mourinho’ has been created by the same team with double Academy Award-winner John Battsek producing, alongside BAFTA and Emmy-nominated director Joe Pearlman (Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now) and gets a worldwide release on August 11.
‘Mourinho’ has been filmed over the course of two years with the documentary being a three-part series anchored around a massive milestone: it has been 20 years since the fateful 2004 night Mourinho shocked the sporting world by leading underdogs FC Porto to Champions League glory.
From there, it traces his explosive rise through Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Tottenham, AS Roma, and Fenerbahçe.
The trailer gives a glimpse of the framing device: Mou guiding viewers through his personal trophy room. Expect to see him pulling out rare memorabilia, including a replica Premier League trophy, football boots personally signed by Diego Maradona, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s first-ever professional shirt.
True to form, Mourinho drops some classic, unfiltered lines right out of the gate in the teaser:
“I started winning in 2003, and my last title was 2022. So it was 20 years winning. That’s why you want to tell my story. You don’t do a documentary with a guy that wins nothing.”
The "Special One" is coming to Netflix.
