New Rayados signing Sergio Canales presented in front of 15,000 fans

Rayados supporters welcomed new signing Sergio Canales to their club after he joined from LaLiga side Real Betis.

A day after his arrival in Mexico, Sergio Canales was officially presented as a player of CF Monterrey. The Spanish midfielder was welcomed with great fanfare at the BBVA Stadium, which opened its doors to welcome the latest player to the squad.

The 32-year-old, who was accompanied by his wife, spoke about the move from Europe.

“Well, I think I’m coming to a great team, a big club that are doing things very well. It’s an ambitious project and, I’m here to do my bit,” he said.

“There are great players, but here it’s a team thing. What I have is a lot of ambition, a lot of desire... I have years of experience in the elite and I think that’s where I will contribute a lot.”

“I am very proud to be here, very happy. I have a lot of ambition to achieve great things together. The passion that I notice here, that you breathe as soon as you arrive here and land, is what I feel about football. I can identify with that and I am sure that all together, not just me, but the whole team, the coaching staff, the whole club, the workers... We are united, we are together, I think that is the way to achieve great things.”

“I’m very grateful, I’m very excited. I’ve loved the welcome, the signs of affection, and also a little bit of the demand that I notice around me and I love this kind of challenge. I’m going to give my best, I’m going to try to help the team. I want to start now. I’m looking forward to being with my team-mates and well, I hope to return all the love that has been given to me and all the confidence they have given me on the pitch, achieving great things, giving people enjoy.”

Family his driving force

“For me, the most important thing is my family. We have wanted to live an experience outside of Europe for a long time and we take it as a life experience, an experience to grow. I think that life is about experiences, challenges and growth. I think that we have a lot to learn.”
