Pumas complete Gabriel Fernández signing
The 29-year-old Uruguayan joins from Celta Vigo, as a direct replacement for Diogo de Oliveira.
A new reinforcement is due to arrive in Pedregal - Gabriel Fernández will join Universidad Nacional for the 2023 Apertura tournament. Pumas agreed terms with Celta Vigo for the Uruguayan striker, who will report to Antonio Mohamed in the next few hours.
Pumas UNAM fought off competition from Juárez - where ‘El Toro’ spent last season on loan. Now, the player will have the difficult task of winning a place in the auriazul attack. The 29-year-old is the response by the board, headed by Leopoldo Silva and Miguel Mejía Barón to Diogo de Oliveira’s recent departure to Plaza Colonia.
Squad now complete
With the incorporation of the Uruguayan striker, the Pumas squad is now practically closed. Gil Alcalá, Nathan Silva, Robert Ergas, Lisandro Magallán are the other reinforcements for the new campaign. The Brazilian central defender and full-back Robert Ergas both made their debut with the club in the 2-3 win against Tijuana at the weekend.
It is expected that both ‘Toro’ and Lisandro will have their first minutes as auriazules in the next game, against Mazatlán on Sunday in the first home game at the Olympic Stadium of the Apertura 2023.
