Sami Nasri reveals that Pep Guardiola had strict sex rules
The Sevilla player spoke to French media about some of the guidelines that Manchester City's manager used to get the best out of Messi and Lewandowski.
Samir Nasri, one of the stars of the season this year with Sevilla, spoke to French media outlet, L'Equipe du Soir about his thoughts on his current team and his start to his new life in LaLiga. He had no hesitation either in flattery to his manager, Sampaoli and his previous manager – at Manchester City – Pep Guardiola.
The Sampaoli and Guardiola mix
"I was very lucky, I had a mix of coaches this year," said the French midfielder acknowledging that during the pre-season with Guardiola he made him realise certain things about his own worth. “'He will not bully you, but he will do everything to make you progress, to get you to know you how to position yourself and how to play. He's a picky person.'
“Now I have Sampaoli, who is a mixture of Bielsa and Guardiola, and his assistant Juanma Lillo, who was Guardiola's mentor, so the association of the two at Sevilla works very well. I feel I can progress with them.”
The importance of a good night's sleep
Nasri explained more about the ex-Barça and Bayern Munich coach’s methods that he witnessed at Manchester City which included sexual practices and food habits.
“Relations must be before midnight. Even if you have a free day the following day,” Nasri said. “It's so you can have a good night's sleep. He told us this is how he managed to get the best out of Messi and Lewandowski, ensuring that they avoided the maximum number of muscle injuries. Many things from the kitchen were off limits too”.
"I arrived four kilos over where I should have been and with Guardiola if you are 2.5kg over, you cannot train with the group. So I trained on my own," Nasri revealed.
Neither Messi nor Cristiano
As if often the case these days, with such attention on two LaLiga stars, the Frenchman was asked who he likes the most between the Barça and Madrid men.
"Messi or Cristiano? In terms of work and physicality, Cristiano, in terms of a football feeling, Messi, but I’d stick with Iniesta."
