Mamadou Sakho is on Sevilla’s shortlist to fill a gap in the squad’s defensive positions after the departure of Timothée Kolodziejczak to Borussia Mönchengladbach.
No Anfield future
The France defender, who has been frozen out at Liverpool despite his international pedigree and his versatility, being able to play in central defence or on the left, after falling foul of the anti-doping authorities at the end of last season and serving a 30-day ban that cost him his place in the France squad at Euro 2016 in a case that was eventually dismissed, and having being sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour by Jürgen Klopp after breaking team rules.
Sakho’s profile fits that being sought by Jorge Sampaoli and Sevilla could make a move for the defender that would suit all parties.
Liverpool will listen to either a loan offer with the option to buy or a permanent transfer after paying PSG 19 million euros for Sakho in 2013.
