Evening Herald post photo of Stormzy instead of Lukaku in major gaffe

A Dublin-based Irish newspaper published a story about Romelu Lukaku's move to Manchester United on Monday with a picture of Stormzy instead of the Belgian striker. The Evening Herald has been the subject of plenty of online abuse due to their gaffe on Monday.

The story came with the headline "Lukaku is ready for work," but instead of the former Everton striker, the paper published a photo of English musician Stormzy. The photo was apparently from a meeting with David Beckham when he sported Manchester United gear.

Carl Markham, the journalist whose byline was on the story has also tweeted, removing himself from the selection of the photograph, and distancing himself from the photograph of the backpage that is currently being shared around the world.

The newspaper have since issued an apology on their digital site that states, "To be honest, we are totally embarrassed and want to say sorry to all involved and our readers for the error. We will keep our eye on the ball in future".

Stormzy has since responded to the photo and to the situation with a tweet saying "I don't find none of this funny btw don't wanna sound like the party pooper who missed the joke..."
