Inter Milan plan another Luka Modric approach

Zhang Jindong, the owner of the Italian club, insists on the Croatian and they will return in the summer to test Modric and Real Madrid.

Inter Milan will go back in for Luka Modric at the end of the season after trying and failing to lure the Croatian to Italy last summer. The reigning Ballon d'Or winner denied a potential move but he is Zhang Jindong's wish and he has entrusted Giuseppe Marotta, Inter's new sporting director, to bring Real Madrid's number 10 to the San Siro next season.

Last summer, the Italian club tried to bring the World Cup's best player to Serie A with a promise of €10 million net per year (he currently earns €6.5 million net per season at Madrid). He was also given the promise of two additional years in Chinese club Jiangsu (the owner of Inter is also the owner of the Chinese side), which would come to €60 million for the six year spell.

The offer was enough to seduce Modric and he thought seriously about leaving but in the end he was convinced to stay at the Santiago Bernabéu with Real Madrid reporting Inter to FIFA for an illegal approach.

Marotta plans Inter Milan facelift

With the arrival of Marotta, however, the dream of signing Modric has returned and the former Juve director is mending the relationship between Florentino Perez and Inter's hierarchy and while his first task is to tie down Icardi, he also has his eyes on Modric.

Real Madrid and Modric agreed not to tough his contract and that has given Marotta hope. He plans to give Inter a facelift like he did at Juventus where he signed players such as Pirlo, Barzagli, Dybala, Tévez and Madzukic (In Italy they say Ronaldo's signing was not his doing). During his term at the club, they also won seven league titles, four Copas, two Italian SuperCups and also made it to two consecutive Champions League finals.

Modric is focused 100% on Madrid and will try to win his 15th title on Saturday with the club. But in Milan, they are already figuring out ways to convince him of the move.
