The race to sign Mbappé heats up
According to L'Équipe, PSG intend to renew Mbappé's deal, with Liverpool interested. Zidane's compliment to Benzema ("The best French forward of all time") may affect a move.
This year will be an important one in dictating the future of Kylian Mbappé and all the parties involved, including Real Madrid, know it. According to French outlet L'Èquipe, PSG are ready to finalise a new deal for their star forward. With Mbappé ending his contract in 2022 and Neymar in a similar situation, the French club have six months left to arrange Mbappé's future and Leonardo, the club's Sporting Director, plans to resolve the situation as soon as possible. The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino to the PSG bench has added pressure to tie Mbappé to be part of the Argentine coaches vision.
As AS has been reporting, Mbappé is Madrid's primary objective for the summer of 2021. Liverpool have the finances to complete a move for the 22-year-old, with Jurgen Klopp hinting at the transfer in recent times. The Premier League club have moved in recent weeks to persuade Mbappé's entourage. Mbappé himself has revealed on more than one occasion that he likes both the Premier League and Liverpool and the link is strengthened because of Nike, his sponsor, who also sponsor Liverpool.
Regarding an Mbappé move to Real Madrid, the PSG attacker may have distanced himself from Zinedine Zidane. According to L'Èquipe, the recent statements made by Zidane in which he admitted that he considers Benzema the best French striker in history could ultimately play against the interests of Madrid, especially since both players would have to share a dressing room. This could be a situation that Zidane himself would have to iron out, although, player management is one of his specialties and Mbappé's admiration for the Madrid coach began in his childhood.
