When will the 2024 NFL MVP be announced? Who is favorite to win?

The end of the regular season in NFL is really just the start of the anxiety-filled postseason, where the kittens are separated from the cats and the stakes grow exponentially as the games fly in thick and fast. We’ve had the final power rankings, the Super Bowl favourites and already questions are being asked about the futures of various stars. And now I’m nervous.

As well as the growing jeopardy, the post season also brings with it the individual awards, which have had time to cook and are ready to be handed out. Amongst them sits the 2024 NFL MVP of the season accolade, the most coveted of the individual prizes, awarded for outstanding performances across the campaign.

Who is the favourite for the 2024 NFL MVP award?

This year, Josh Allen looked to many all but certain to take home the trophy, but a few names have crept up behind him and now the battle appears well and truly on. Last year’s winner, Lamar Jackson, appears to be the main one.

The Ravens quarterback has been one of the best this season after throwing for 4,172 yards with 41 touchdowns and four interceptions while rushing for 915 yards and four scores.

Also, we can’t forget names like Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals, who finished the season as the leading passer in yards, completions and touchdown passes; in the offense Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles, who came close to breaking the record for rushing yards in a season. You may remember that the player wasn’t happy that the chance of making history was taken out of his hands.

An outsider this year is Patrick Mahomes. According to the bookmakers, the Chiefs QB is well down the pecking order to win the award, as he looks to lead Kansas City to a third consecutive Super Bowl crown. Here’s what they say:

When will the 2024 NFL MVP award be announced?

The NFL Honors Awards Ceremony is held during the Super Bowl celebrations, and in the same city as the big game. Voting is already done and dusted before the playoffs.

This year the date for crowning the new king of the NFL is set for February 6, 2025, and will be held in New Orleans.
