The score at halftime was something that hadn’t been seen before, so we knew there was something special happening.
The record for the most goals scored in a single UEFA Champions League semifinal match now stands at nine – set in the extraordinary clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
At 5-4, the game rewrote the competition’s history books, becoming the highest-scoring semifinal ever. Remarkably, the chaos started early. Five goals were packed into the first half alone – another record for this stage.
Harry Kane opened the scoring on 17 minutes, before Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, João Neves, Michael Olise, and Ousmane Dembélé all struck before the break.

Oranges had, and we kept going. Dembélé and Kvaratskhelia both got another one each before Upamecano and Diaz tightened things up. We then went an incredible 23 minutes plus four additional ones without a goal... but there were chances to really make it silly.
What’s the highest over two legs?
Across a two-leg semifinal tie, the benchmark remains higher. Inter Milan and Barcelona combined for 13 goals in 2025, matching the Champions League-era record after a 3-3 first leg and a dramatic 4-3 second-leg win at San Siro.
Before that, Liverpool and Roma also hit 13 goals in their 2017/18 semifinal.
Single games in this competition have gone even higher – Borussia Dortmund’s 8-4 win over Legia Warsaw (12 goals) remains the outright match record – but semifinals rarely open up like this. That is what makes this PSG vs Bayern clash stand apart.
