Sevilla looking to end away day jinx against Leganés
The Rojiblancos have not picked up a victory on the road in the league since the final day of the 2014-15 season, a run of 22 away games.
Jorge Sampaoli is eager to bring an end to Sevilla’s run of away games without a win, which stretches back to a final day victory over Málaga in the 2014-15 season. To do so the Chilean will have to decide on his best 11 after preferring to make changes for home and away games but finally settling on what could be his regular starting line-up over the course of the last two fixtures.
Same 11 in two consecutive games
Against Lyon in the Champions League and Alavés in La Liga, Sampaoli fielded the same starting 11 in consecutive games for the first time this season, beating the French side 1-0 and the Basques 2-1. With only Gabriel Mercado still to return from international duty and no injuries to that 11, Sampaoli could opt to play the same side for a third consecutive match.
Carriço return
However, in good news for Sevilla, key defender Daniel Carriço returned to training this week after injury had restricted the vice-captain to just 49 minutes of Liga action this season. The Portuguese may find it difficult to get back into a side that is looking settled immediately, while Sampaoli appears to have decided that rotations are not necessarily the answer to Sevilla’s away day conundrum.
